Bajatey Raho Movie Review - Weak Clone Of 'Khosla Ka Ghosla'

No. Of Views : 4948

Dated : July, 25, 2013 BY

Expectations:

Just few weeks back I saw the promo of a film 'Bajate Raho' featuring few talented actors like Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Dolly Ahluwalia, etc. The expectation level started building up as the promos looked promising and reminded of a classic film 'Khosla Ka Ghosla'. But then we have seen many films on such theme of conning-the-conman in past, where they ended up being weak clones of 'Khosla Ka Ghosla'. So let's find out whether 'Bajate Raho' with its promising star cast and promos may manage to give us an entertainer or might end up adding on to the long list of those Delhi based films related to conning genre.

Bajatey Raho Review

Story:

'Bajate Raho' is story of a rich conman Sabarwal (Ravi Kishan), who keeps minting money by various wrong deeds including framing innocent people. One of his framed victim dies and thus his family (Dolly Ahluwalia and Tusshar Kapoor) & friends (Vinay Pathak & Ranvir Shorey) decides to get even with Sabarwal. What happens next is what the entire film is all about.

Screenplay & Technicalities:

Story is as it looked out on lines of 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' with few more additional side tracks. Except for few scenes like Tusshar & gang conning the principal followed by raiding the dairy, emotionally fooling Brijendra Kala and few more, there is absolutely no humor in this so called comical thriller. The first half just keeps establishing the characters and premises of the film and thus, is dragging. Despite of good scope, the second half fails to get you back in the film. The movie is just flat and predictable. Camera work too is strictly average.

Music & Direction:

Music by various artists is not that great. Yet, the title track along devotional version of 'Subha Hone Na De' seemed appealing. The romantic song and item number should have been avoided.

Bajatey Raho Movie Ratings

The director could have done wonders with this story line but fails badly on writing part along with additional side tracks. The romantic track was lame and the emotional part lacks connection.

Performances:

Tusshar Kapoor is average in this film. Any other actor could have done better than him. Vinay Pathak and Ranvir are wasted as per their talent, but still do their part with total dedication. Dolly Ahluwalia and Ravi Kishan along with Brijendra Kala are great in their part. Vishakha was ok.

So bol meri 'Filmi Khopdi' iss film mein kitna hai dum?

Well except for few scenes and good concept there is no dum in this film. The makers lost a good opportunity and ended up making a weak clone of 'Khosla Ka Ghosla'
