Expectations

The trailers of the film are quite promising and so does the quick look of the music in it. As touted to be a romantic thriller movie, one can expect situational outings here and as well some dreamy sequences. Well let us see how well the makers have justified the genre, and satisfied the listeners-viewers.

Cigarette Ki Tarah Music Review

Duriyan...

Unexpectedly and as well expectedly the album kicks off with a dreamy and cheering song, Duriyan. Sung by Nikhil D'Souza, it's fairly a dreamy sequence where the lead actor is crying his heart out to stay away from his love, and questioning out loud by saying how can he actually stay away. The lyrics are nicely written and also the song starts off well. However the graph of the pace and feeling in this song slows down a bit during the mid-way, but somehow balances towards the end. There is also a 'remix version' which however impresses you well. It makes you go into a trance level, where the listeners may tap their feet and hums a couple of words from the song.

Hey Bhagwan...

The next in the offering completely shifts your mood, where from a lovey-dovey dream sequence song, the makers offers their listeners an absolute wacky and comical track. However though there is a sudden shift, but the music here is quite good and engages you throughout the song. The lyrics are as well very funny and entice the listeners to hear it all over again.

Mujhko Khud Se...

Next comes in the album is 'Mujhko Khud Se', which again shifts the mood just as we have experienced it before. It's actually a tear-jerking song, which is sung by Kavita Seth. This time it's a lead actress, who is crying her heart out by saying and enlightening the consequences when her love has sadly been left her in an hurtful state. The music is fairly soulful, and the lyrics are quite painful.

Cigarette Ki Tarah...

Sung by Suzanne D Mello, the title song comes rather late in the album. It's purely a situational outing, where it can be seen in between some of the most intriguing and thrilling sequences of the film. Lyrics are quite hard, and music is fairly enough to make an apt impact on the screen.

Ye Bata Do Piya...

After one heartbreaking song, one dreamy song, one comical track and lastly a title track, the next one comes in the picture a pure and intense romantic number. Sung by Sudeep Banerjee and Shweta Pandit, the music here soothes your mind and refreshes with an upbeat mood. The album concludes in a good note!

Overall

On the whole, the album of 'Cigarette Ki Tarah' can be signified as mixed bag filled with different kinds of sounds. This romantic thriller movie has heartbreaking song, dreamy lovey-dovey song, comical track, romantic number, and as well as an absolute situational title track. By and large, it although doesn't completely satisfies you, but as well doesn't wholly disappoint you either.

Our Pick

Duriyan (remix), Hey Bhagwan, Mujhko Khud Se
