Richa Chadda and Kalki Koechlin are roped in for a road-travel fun-loving movie titled 'Jiah Aur Jiah'. As the characters of both the actresses have the name 'Jiah' in the movie.
While Richa plays a Tamilian named Jiah Venkataraman, Kalki will play a Punjaban named Jiah Garewal in the film. Interestingly, Richa Chadda is a Punjabi and Kalki Koechlin a South Indian in real-life, but for this girl bonding film, the two spunky actresses will swap their cultural identities in reel-life.
Furthermore, Richa would be spending her time in Kalki's home space in Pondicherry, and in the same way Kalki would be visiting Richa's environment in Delhi, so that both the actresses can get a feel of each other's culture before plunging into their parts for the film.
Strangely the announcement of this particular film, Jiah Aur Jiah, comes just days after the actress Jiah Khan's tragic death. However, filmmaker Mudassar Aziz, who co-produces the film along with Sunil Bohra, strongly denies that neither his film and nor their characters are having any sort of connection with real-life Jiah Khan. He says, "My film and its concept, which is of two girls named Jiah from different cultural background coming together in unexpected ways for a road-travel movie, have been materialized long before the tragic death of Jiah Khan."
On the other hand, Mudassar admits the late actress Jiah had indeed approached him for a role, but unfortunately she didn't fit the bill. "I needed two actresses with very specific cultural backgrounds. It had to be Richa and Kalki," added the producer.
Jiah Aur Jiah is to be directed by choreographer Howard Rosemeyer, and will be shot on Sweden.
