B.A. PASS is an erotic-thriller film based on one of the stories, THE RAILWAY AUNTY, from the book DELHI NOIR. Written by Mohan Sikka, The Railway Aunty is an anthology (collections of short stories) based mainly in and around Delhi-NCR. It was published by HarperCollins India and edited by Hirsh Sawhney in 2010.
B.A. PASS is not just another bold-erotic film that en-cashes and emphasizes on sex without any need, or showcases sensuality to titillate. In spite of its dark subject and being an erotic drama at heart, B.A. PASS showcases erotica in its truest sense. The movie raises the bar of showcasing love-making scenes like nobody had ever done before in the surroundings of Indian Cinema.
A young small town boy Mukesh (Shadab Kamal) moves to Delhi to stay with his aunt and finish his college. Soon he is seduced by a mysterious married woman known to him as Sarika 'Aunty' (Shilpa Shukla), who is living next to his house. Set in the middle of the neon-lit by lanes of Delhi's Paharganj, the movie unfolds an erotic human drama between the two sexes.
Soon a relationship which is based on lust, lies and deceit is forged. As the young boy gets more and more rooted into his surroundings, he discovers a city that succeeds on corrupting even the most youthful and innocent beings.
The film is being shot by director-cinematographer, Ajay Bahl, in the bylanes of Paharganj, Barakhamba Road and Sarai Rohilla area of Delhi. The shooting started from July 2011 in Delhi, and completed in January 2012.
At the 2012 Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema, the film had won the Best Film Award in 'Indian competition' section, whereas debutant Shadab Kamal won the Best Actor award. Also at the 2012 Montreal World Film Festival, the film was part of the 'First Films World Competition', where it was nominated for the Golden Zenith for the Best First Fiction Feature Film.
