Another Five Must Watch Priyanka Chopra Movies

Dated : September, 18, 2011 BY Roy Daniel D'Silva
Priyank Chopra is not everyone’s favorite actress. For some, she is the only option that the film industry has. For others, she is the one who ruined the sci fi movies Krrish and Lovestory 2050, but she does have a very large fanbase who love her for the movies that she has starred in. To be frank, Priyanka Chopra has not had the best of movies in the late nineties and the early 2000s, but once she hit the big budget producers, she did take up some challenging roles and movies. Here are five of the must watch Priyanka Chopra movies that should be in your shopping bag the next time you go movie shopping.

5. Aitraaz

This one had Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra together, and all the three have given laudable performances. Priyanka Chopra acts as the antagonist in the movie, who has married a much older man for fame and money, but tries to pursue her young, ex lover once their paths meet again. The best part about this character is that though it starts out to be negative, you see the positive shades come later in the movie, and at the end of it all, you tend to sympathize with the character. Aitraaz Poster This was supposed to be Priyanka Chopra’s breakthrough for the intelligent cinema goer. The movie not only had some good performances by Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar, but it also was one of the first author backed role that Kareena Kapoor played. Needless to say, all the actors in this movie are blockbuster actors in their own right today. In today’s world, Aitraaz would have been overhyped like there is no tomorrow. But considering the fact that back then Akshay, Kareena and Priyanka were mid carders in the big bad world of Bollywood, the movie worked on pure quality.

4. Bluffmaster!

Priyanka Chopra has undergone a terrific makeover. The makeover was not as evident in the movies prior to Bluffmaster!, but it could still be seen in the Hrithik Roshan superhero movie Krrish. However, in Bluffmaster, Priyanka Chopra not just accelerated her acting chops but also gained a lean and mean body, which basically had temperatures soaring at the box office. The chemistry between Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra was soaring enough to duplicate in Drona, but that movie was a debacle. In Bluffmaster! Priyanka Chopra plays a rich girl who falls in love with Abhishek’s character, Roy,who is a conman. The movie also had Riteish Deshmukh in his breakthrough role. Bluffmaster Poster Bluffmaster also had Nana Patekar in a great role. This movie goes down in Bollywood history as the one that would have been a superhit if only the audience could have understood it.

3. Karam

Karam Poster Before you think that John Abraham has not yet acted in a action only movie, take a look at Karam, a truly blood soaked, action adventure where Abraham plays an assassin who has a final fight sequence with scimitar swords – take that, Bodyguard. This movie has some of the finest cinematography in recent times, and has the awesome song Tinka Tinka, which is picturised even more awesomely on Priyanka Chopra.

2. Kaminey

Kaminey Poster Priyanka Chopra has a penchant for the wicked and the twisted. It was shown off in Aitraaz and Vishal Bharadwaj thought that she would be great to play the role of a forward thinking, gregarious Marathi mulgi in his movie Kaminey, with Shahid Kapoor. The movie is an exercise in cinematic beauty, and people will tell you that the direction is so rampant that one cannot watch it on a small screen – this one was worth the ticket just because of the direction. Priyanka Chopra played a sort of a grey character in the movie, and went deglam for the role. Anyhoo, she did look striking as the girl next door, and this is one of her must watch performances.  The movie is considered to be another benchmark in Bollywood, and anyone who is remotely interested in Bollywood.

1. Saat Khoon Maaf

Here it is, the best of the best. The movie that made people think and ponder, and one of the first movies that actually created a tizzy in the online world. Even today, if you watch the movie, there are some people who have not yet understood what the seventh murder in the movie is. And frankly, the seventh murder is sort of an open question. Saat Khoon Maaf Poster However, the movie has Priyanka Chopra in a crackling form. Her change from a woman in love to a woman who decides to take revenge, and finally someone who resigned to taking revenge for the bad that the world did to her is nothing short of breathtaking. The best part about her performance is that she understates the wickedness and the bitterness that the character would have in real life. Priyanka Chopra tackles the difficult character with the ease of a veteran, and you cannot help thinking why film makers do not offer the other actors such movies.

Priyanka Chopra is the brightest star in the Bollywood Industry right now. Her most critically acclaimed role was in Fashion, but she excelled in Saat Khoon Maaf too. She will next be seen in Don 2, and she was also a part of Don, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer which was a remake of the Amitabh Bachchan movie.  She will also be seen with Ranbir Kapoor in Barfee, which is a psychological movie. These are the top five movies that Priyanka Chopra has acted in as yet. Do you agree with them, or do you have any others in your mind?
